I’m originally from Texas, where big skies and bold flavors were my normal—until life took us on quite the adventure. After our daughter was born, we traded the Lone Star State for the quiet charm of Bend, Oregon. Our son was born there, and though it was a totally different vibe, we fell in love with the mountain lifestyle.

Next came Seattle—breathtaking on a sunny day, but after enough gray skies and drizzle, I was ready for a change. That’s how we landed in New Jersey. I wasn’t excited at first, but it surprised me in the best way. We lived on five acres in the countryside of far West Jersey. I had a tractor, a little farm, and a whole new kind of joy. This Texas girl didn’t expect to love that life, but I truly did.

Eventually, we circled back to Texas, thinking we were settling in for good… until Florida came calling. It was palm trees, beaches, and heat.

And now, we’re in North Carolina—and I think we’ve finally found our place. With the perfect mix of North and South, mild seasons, mountains, beaches, and the friendliest people, it truly feels like home. My husband, our two kids, our two pups, and I all agree, this might just be forever.

These days, I love playing pickleball, cooking, making art, spending time with family and traveling, but honestly, nothing beats relaxing on our screened-in porch. It’s my happy place.
